Black Adam DC Extended Universe News

Dwayne Johnson Teases ‘Black Adam’ & ‘Shazam’ Movie + Discusses Future Of The DCEU

While promoting Fate of the Furious, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson briefly discussed his upcoming role in the DC Extended Universe as Black Adam. The actor has openly discussed his talks with DC Comics head Geoff Johns in the past, and apparently the DCEU has a bright future, plus a few surprises.

“We’ve had great discussions with Geoff Johns over at DC. This is a really fun, cool time for DC right now because they’re world-building. We’re seeing that with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. We have a few surprises down the line.”

Johnson then went on to confirm that Black Adam will receive a solo movie before going head to head with Shazam. The character was originally intended to serve as the villain in the Shazam movie but that has changed.

“So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie. We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point.”

We’re not exactly sure what “surprises” Johnson is talking about, but there have been plenty of rumours claiming that Black Adam might appear in a Man of Steel sequel. I’d take that with a grain of salt, but it sounds like we’ll see Johnson in the DCEU before Black Adam’s solo movie.

When do you think we’ll see Black Adam! Let me know in the comments section below!

Between daydreams of being The Flash, Kieran manages to find the time to read comics, watch movies and keep up with the latest TV Series. The ultimate Superman fanboy his specific interests include the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DC Extended Universe, and Marvel & DC Comics. Kieran's life goal is to test real-life Iron Man armor. He'd be pretty bummed if he never got to travel the galaxy.
