According to Collider, Warner Bros. wants X-Men: First Class and Kickass director Matthew Vaughn to helm the Man of Steel sequel.
Sources have reportedly told Collider that Matthew Vaughn has discussed the Man of Steel sequel with Warner Bros. but the studio hasn’t made an offer and Vaughn could end up not directing the next Superman movie.
Vaughn has discussed a Superman movie with Warner Bros. before. In 2010 the director had a sit down with the studio about a Superman reboot but the project instead went to Zack Snyder. The diretcor has discussed what he would want to see in a Superman movie, see what he said below:
“I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version. Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”
It sounds like Vaughn is a big Superman fan and has his own ideas about who the Man of Steel should be in this DC Extended Universe. My guess is that if we see Vaughn take over the Superman franchise the tone and feel of the character will change to be more in line with the comic books.
