Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Cast As Black Manta In ‘Aquaman’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast as Black Manta in James Wan’s upcoming Aquaman movie for Warner Bros. and DC Comics.

Abdul-Mateen previously starred in The Get Down which had a massive audience on Netflix and will appear in the upcoming Baywatch movie alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. According to the report by THR, the actor was also a frontrunner to play Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie before the casting of Donald Glover.

Black Manta is possibly Aquaman’s most dangerous villain, so it’s great to see that James Wan and DC Comics are preparing to introduce him on the big screen. With production set to start on Aquaman in the coming months, it’s good to see that things are moving smoothly.
