Disney has finally confirmed that Woody Harrelson has joined the cast of the still untitled Han Solo film. StarWars.com officially announced the news on Wednesday after speculation sparked online.
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique.” They added, “He is also very good at ping pong.”
While Harrelson’s role in this Star Wars spin-off is still unconfirmed, he will reportedly play a mentor and friend to the young Han Solo. The Han Solo film will go into production this year, with a release date set in 2018.
