Should Disney Make An Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie?

Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie

With the first Star Wars anthology movie, Rogue One currently dominating the box-office, it’s time to start thinking of what other stories we’d like to see from the galaxy far, far away. Obviously, we’ll be getting the Han Solo movie in 2018 but there’s one film yet to be announced that Disney should seriously consider. I know I’m not the only one who wants to see an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie and I’m sure Disney have a meeting every week about it but how awesomely cool would it be to see Ewen McGregor return as an older Obi-Wan?

There is a major chunk of time between Revenge of the Sith and the original Star Wars trilogy that hasn’t been explored. We know that Obi-Wan was operating in secret at this time but it would be exciting for a film investigate what the Jedi master was doing on Tatooine at this time.

So what could happen in an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie? Well, it would be interesting to see a more toned down and raw Star Wars film. Much like Rogue One, a solo Obi-Wan movie could tell a smaller confined story that the larger episodes. The difficult aspect of this would, of course, be the fact that Jedi were in hiding or extinct at this time so a solo Obi-Wan movie would need to have a limited effect on the larger Star Wars story but this could also be seen as a benefit.

Overall I would more than enjoy seeing a solo Obi-Wan Kenobi movie headlined buy Ewan McGregor. It would allow a filmmaker to add depth and history to a beloved Star Wars character and give McGregor the opportunity he deserved in the prequel trilogy.
