Should Darth Vader Get His Own Movie In The ‘Star Wars’ Universe?

Darth Vader

Darth Vader is arguably the most popular villain in cinematic history. The character is known in all corners of the world and continues to terrify fans years after his first introduction. With the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the return of Vader it’s clear that fans still love the character but does that mean he should get his own movie?

I would argue that while Vader is one of my all-time favourite Star Wars characters it would be a mistake for Disney and Lucasfilm to give him a solo movie. The reason Vader is so effective in Rogue One is because he only has a limited appearance. If we had a full film focused on Vader it’s entirely possible that fans might grow bored of of this iconic villain. I would much prefer Vader to be used only when the story demands, or his appearance can enhance the Star Wars experience.

If Rogue One has proved anything it is that Darth Vader continues to be a major draw for audiences but hopefully Disney see this as an opportunity to add Vader’s presence in future Star Wars movies, rather than to give him his own, potentially harmful movie.
