The Hollywood Reporter just revealed that Warner Bros. has big plans for the DC Comics characters introduced in Suicide Squad. Not only will the film receive a sequel but fan-favourite character Harley Quinn will star in her own movie, Gotham City Sirens.
Even more surprising is the news that Suicide Squad director David Ayer has signed on to direct the film, which will bring together some of DC Comics’ most dangerous female villains. Gotham City Sirens is also the name of a recent comic series featuring Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. If the film follows the comic and introduces Catwoman and Ivy it will certainly be interesting to see these characters join the DC Extended Universe.
Gotham City Sirens is being written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and will be produced by Margot Robbie. David Ayer will direct and produce alongside Robbie.
