It seems like Fox has found its niche in the superhero genre. Deadpool defied all expectation to become the most successful r-rated movie, and now it looks like Logan is following that same trend.
According to director James Mangold, Wolverine himself Hugh Jackman took a reduced paycheck to secure Logan an r-rating. This is similar to reports that Ryan Reynolds accepted a smaller pay to make Deadpool a more creatively controlled film.
The first 40-minutes of Logan was screened for a limited audience this weekend and gained praise for its new approach to the character. A lot of attention was focused on the blood and gore of the first act, so we’re glad to hear that Jackman did whatever it took to get the film made the way he wanted it.
