Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man, when Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios release Spider-Man: Homecoming next year. Homecoming has officially wrapped filming, but when it comes to the special effects that a character like Spider-Man demands, there’s plenty more to be done in post-production.
Jon Watts, who will direct the next web-slinger movie, recently posted a behind-the-scenes video on his Instagram account. The video shows Watts and star Tom Holland on set using facial capture technology. This is necessary to make it look like Holland under the mask, even when we’re looking at a computer generated Spidey.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming is expected to land pretty soon, with most outlets speculating that it will most likely be released alongside Rogue One. Now that Marvel is involved with Spidey’s big-screen adventures, they’ll want to ensure that the marketing gets off to a good start, and what better way to market a film that showing a trailer before a new Star Wars movie.
Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, and Marisa Tomei. The film opens on July 7, 2017.
